WHAT IS THE DEEP NORTH ALL ABOUT?

Welcome to the Deep North Electronic Music Blog.  This site will be our temporary home while the official site undergoes construction.  Please bear with us over the next several weeks until our official blog is fully designed and functional, upon which time you shall be redirected to the new and improved Deep North website.

The Deep North is a space created to give all electronic music enthusiasts - - regardless of age, sex and/or cultural background - - the chance to expand and refine their musical knowledge, taste and personal music collections by providing an opportunity for people to discover and experience new sounds through positive human interaction - - including the acts of sharing, communication and community building.

The Deep North blog was born from the desire of a number of individuals (from Toronto, Canada) who love electronic music - - namely House, Deep House, Tech House, Techno and Minimal - - to share their own personal experiences, interests, knowledge, research and music collections with other like-minded individuals from across the globe.  We believe that everyone in the global electronic music community - - including artists, record labels, promoters, venue owners, operators, collectors, die hard fans and simple enthusiasts - - can gain something valuable through the processes of sharing music, knowledge, experiences and ideas.

The Shared Benefits that can result from blogging about music undoubtedly outweigh the any negatives, whether those benefits come in the form of improved sales, exposure, accessibility, or knowledge.  At the very least, music lovers gain greater access to new material and knowledge, while artists simultaneously gain more hype and exposure to potential fans - - two things which are heavily considered by venue operators, promoters and record labels who may want to invest in the hard work of featured artists in the future.

We may share the odd track (only at lower, 128kbps quality levels) with our readers, but we will never put up more than half of any release for free download on the site.  Furthermore, we will always point our readers (via hyperlinks) to the appropriate retailers to buy the full, high-quality tracks we promote on the site, as well as the rest of the release.  All material posted on this site is intended to promote and discuss the artist(s) in question. If you do not wish to have your material posted here, please contact the site administrator and it will be removed immediately.

Let the wonderful music loving members of our crew tell you what they think is hot on heat street, and why.  The Deep North always encourages our readers/listeners to give their positive inputimpressions and feedback by communicating with our contributors and others through personal comments on individual posts - - in hopes that free-flowing dialogue and discussion will flow from each submission, ensuring that everyone learns something new with each trip into The Deep North, including ourselves.

The Deep North values personal style and opinion, tolerates a bit of low-brow humour, swearing, and will rarely edit submissions, simply because we trust the judgement and taste of all of our contributors before bringing them on the team.  We really hope that you enjoy our blog for the personal, funny, informative and sometimes long write-ups that accompany the songs and mixes we choose to feature - - and if you don't, we hope you can find a blog that tickles your fancy - - because we are who we are and who we want to be.

We hope to get you dancing along with us to fat, deep basslines and tasty tech tunes over the coming days, months, and hopefully years.

MUCH LOVE & REMEMBER TO KEEP THAT DANCE FLOOR ROLLIN DIRTY.

THE DEEP NORTH CREW.
