24 Hours A Minute

Drink and Smoke to this tune by Conforce, but don't go too far. Image courteousy of Mark Krajnak, click the image to see more.

Conforce is a name that used to sort of blend into the background for me as everything i heard from the Delsin and Rush Hour artist seemed to be sort of dreamy, lacking the drive i like in my favorite types of techno tracks. Not to say they were bad or anything, but they somehow lacked what i was looking for.

However, all of that has changed recently.  Conforce's newest bit for Clone Basement Series has been topping charts left right and center, and after one listen, there is no surprise as to why. The release is jammed with tracks which I love and almost every time I have played selections from the release, someone has lost their marbles.  Although I am sure any well seasoned techno head out there has already heard it enough times, I have decided to share my favorite tune here in hopes that at least a few of you have the chance to go bananas over it for the first time.  Here is the super hot single of the release.  But do yourself a favor and be sure to check all the tunes on this bad to the bone techno release before buying it to show some love to a truly awesome artist.

Apeshit

This is not a joke, nor is this some fucking monkeybar schoolyard game kids. Grow up and listen to this new Throne of Blood shit. It's serious.

The Rapture's Gabriel Andruzzi makes his solo debut as DJ Druzz vs. OMEGA MUs with two dance floor bombs and two remixes, one from Monty Luke (Black Catalogue/Planet E/Mothership-Detroit) and one from Bohemian Groove, a brand new collaboration between Jokers of the Scene (Fools Gold) and Ville Haimala from Renaissance Man (Turbo Recordings).

I Took this right from the Throne of Blood Soundcloud.  Consider it a quote.  I don't fucking plagiarise, ever.  This will be the 22nd release for Throne of Blood, a wicked label out of NYC which was originally founded by the dance-punk band.  Get ya Blood on.

This shit is HOT.  Out March 19th.  Start saving your loochie.

Fur Coats & Dinosaurs

Image by the wonderful Merry Sommers. Click picture to visit her site!

We're back!  It's been a bit busy over here are The Deep North HQ, and last weekends amazing show with Remain was so amazing that I was guttered for the 2 days afterwards.  Speaking of Remain, his new EP on My Favorite Robot Records is now available for purchase.  Go grab yourself a copy of the "La Rixerelease, you will not be dissapointed - - the remixes are serious!

I wanted to speak briefly about a hot recent release on Crosstown Rebels by Venezuelan artists that go by the names Fur Coat (Delete & Israel Sunshine)and Argenis Brito.  The release, Space Ballad came out on my birthday (October 3rd), and is the 83rd release by the popular Crosstown brand.  This tune is fresh as all hell, and I have been bumping it like a madman for the past two weeks, and I am sure you will be too if you have not heard this yet.  The Deep House original is a slow starter, only heating up after the 3 minute mark, and UK remixers TEED took it upon themselves to kick the heat up a notch after one minute in their house mix of the jam.  I prefer the original mix, but both versions are wicked.  I will share a 128kbps version of the TEED remix with you all, I hope you enjoy, and sorry for the wait my friends!

Niederflur!

I was pretty stoked when I found this EP from Niederflur last night, called Teleservice. Dating back to 2001, Niederflur have released tons of great music and these three tracks are no different. This is some really cool techno/tech house but I'll admit that I'm not completely sold on "Vulkanistaor." Regardless, it's pretty sick.

Although the duo has been loyal to M_nus for their first eight or so years, they turned to other labels starting with 2009's Lumen, released on Archipel. This is their first release with Snork Enterprises.

Check er out!

Free Fax Trax & Herman's Mix

"The kids are on fire!"

That is what I heard a little old lady say as dozens of small children ran out of a birthday party at a local McDonalds this afternoon, smoke billowing out of the windows as clowns with fire extinguishers piled out of an amphibious 2-door 1968 Volkswagon Beetle.  In the end, the clowns failed to extinguish the fire, and only one double cheeseburger was saved from the blaze.

Just joking.

On a serious note, here are two brand new tunes by a kid who is on fire, The Deep North's Max the Fax.  The kid - - one half of Phantom Ambulance and my new roommate - - is always working on music in the bits of time he has between working and sleeping long hours, with the only break he takes being when he is contemplating whether or not he should cook up some gourmet fettuccini and chicken.  I wish he made that stuff as much as he makes tunes.

You can download the songs either below, or through his bandcamp page.  If you like what you hear, leave us a small comment - - we love the feedback.

Keep your eyes out for a new track by Max and I in the coming week or so, as we have been working on the debut tune for our project dubbed "The Hermans".  Here is a little mix we did way back in May, late and drunk after a party.  It was actually our first ever b2b set.  It's far from perfect, but a fun little mix to get you through the mondaze.

The tracklist can be found in the "information" section of the track, under the "lyrics" tab on iTunes.

Sphere Voyage

Not going to say much about this new sizzling hot tune by Martyn called Masks other than: WOAH.

Masks.  Aptly named, the track - - along with the entire August 2nd Masks/Viper release on Brainfeeder - - is a departure from Martyn's usual production sphere centered on bass music. taking listeners into the spheres of techno/house/electronica, something that may be unfamiliar or, completely unknown to some of the man's fans and followers.

We love the deep, greasy groove you get with this song, especially our blog-mate Book, but be sure to let us know what you think by leaving a comment to this post!!

Dig right on in, don't be shy and please leave a comment if you like the track.  Thanks go out to our boy Terror Tone of Stacked Records for tuning me into this one a couple of weeks ago.

Phantom Ambulance's Medicine EP On Thoughtless Music

ATTENTION ALL READERS, LISTENERS & LURKERS.

We have a special announcement today concerning some of our crew members here at the Deep North, in particular the two weirdo's who make up Toronto's hottest new Techno duo Phantom Ambulance.  For those who don't know anything about this see-through EMS vehicle which produces bad-ass tech house, deep house and techno, the duo consists of twenty-one year old friends and obsessive music fans Max the Fax (Deep North founding member, resident DJ and contributor) and Maxwell Lucas (Deep North resident DJ).

The two young producers came together less than a year ago after techno-loving Max the Fax had decided to step his production game up from Garageband to Ableton, following a post I did on his tunes on plugged not thugged last spring and after playing his first ever DJ set at Tick, Tech, Toe, a tech-house night at downtown drinkhole TOTA Lounge.  Maxwell Lucas, a classically trained musician, was lured into the EDM scene by his longtime friend Max's obsession, and before one could blink an eye the two were pumping out killer tunes that were so technically sound, quirky and novel that they impressed even the most respected producers in the game, including Canadian techno titan and Thoughtless Music head Noah Pred.

After hearing a few tunes by the Ambulance, Noah decided to back The Medicine EP, a four track digital release on Thoughtless Music which includes two original tracks -- Medicine and Fabulous -- along with two remixes of Medicine by producers Beton Brut and Dactilar.  The EP is the first release for the boys, and we could not be happier then to see it happen on a Canadian label run by a veteran musician such as Noah, who treats the label as a large family.  In case you are not familiar with this label, the exceptionally talented roster should speak volumes in terms of Thoughtless' penchant for releasing only extremely high quality work.  The imprint has released material by some of the worlds best EDM producers including Jonny White, Kate Simko, Talal & Zoi, James Teej, Mike Shannon, Arthur Oskan, Sean Roman, Zaid Edghaim, Tomas Jirku and Noah Pred himself.  I speak on the whole crew's behalf when I say thank you to Thoughtless Music, Noah and everyone who has supported Phantom Ambulance in the past, present and future.

Below I am going to include four 3-minute previews of the entire Medicine EP, from the originals to the remixes, to give everyone a taste of what the release is like.  We will also direct you to the groubs Bandcamp Page where you will be able to download around five to six previously shared 320kbps Phantom Ambulance tracks FOR FREE!!  GO GET THEM WHILE ITS HOT!!!

We Need A Connection...

We have moved to a new spot, and as a result, have been without internet in The Deep North HQ for the past week.  Fear not, we should be back in action in the next few days.  We apologize for the slow rate of updates.  Great news though, as we have great new exclusive mixes on the way from Neoteric, Tasc and Zaid Edghaim.  That should build some anticipation for the coming week.

In the meantime, enjoy these sweet tunes by Danny Daze, Maceoplex and Caribou.

DJ T. - City Life ft. Cari Goldman (Maceo Plex Remix) >>> [BUY]

Again, we apologize for the slow updates, but we will be back in action soon enough.  Thanks for the patience.

Pick Your Game Up

The boys known as Hot Natured, Jamie Jones and Lee Foss, have injected some life back into one of their labels of the same name.  The Hot Natured Imprint has released the long-awaited Hot Natured Re-Rubs Volume 4 earlier this month after the label - - which deals solely with edits and re-edits - - went on a brief hiatus following the last volume in the series.  For the most part, I was stoked on the entire release, which has a Nu-Disco flavour to it with heavy influences from the 1980's.  Of the four tracks on this particular release, I must say that I am most fond of Not Natured's newest crew-kid Richy Ahmed's track with S.A.S. (Subb-an & Adam Shelton) called Pick Up The Pacea funky ass groove with a big wonky bassline and vocal slices of an earlier hip-hop variety.

I am also a big fan of Miguel Campbell's track Active Touch, another 80's inspired groove which I can't help but think would be a wonderful backdrop during a cheesy porno shoot on a rooftop in Miami.  The Leed's producer has been around for a couple of years and his style of deep house has been one of serious French House flavours with a dash of Jamaroquai-esque in the mix.  Along with other producers like Richy Ahmed, Robert James, Subb-an, Russ Yallop and Maya Jane Coles, heat maker Miguel Campbell is one of the heads at the forefront of Britains "House Music Renaissance" over the past year.

Pick your game up by putting on these two summertime stingers and enjoying a cold alchoholic beverage by the pool with a couple of sweethearts.  Most of us can't get that scenario going, but enjoy the music anyways.
